Composition Dolls
Definition: A mixture of wood pulp, sawdust, glue and similar items which is used to make bodies for antique dolls and also for entire dolls (head and body) during the 20th century until the advent of hard plastic dolls.
Examples: Shirley Temple, made in the 1930s by Ideal Dolls, is a popular composition doll.
The 1920s through the 1940s were the most poplular period for all-composition dolls.
